Down Syndrome: It is a chromosomal condition caused by the presence of an extra copy of Chromosome 21. It is also called trisomy 21 because there are three copies of this chromosome instead of two, which changes the normal development of body’s and brain’s. In 1866 British physician named as a John Langdon Down described this syndrome.
Signs and symptoms: It occurs at a rate of 1 per 733 births. Mentally and physically development are slower in individuals with Down syndrome as compared to normal and healthy individuals. They are slower while understanding speech and expressing speech. They may have a speech delay.
